How do I remove transparency from map images?

Map graphics must have all transparency removed as the transparent areas will appear as black in the native apps. 


Remove Transparency on Mac

  1. On Mac > Open the image in Preview
  2. File > Export > uncheck Alpha > resave the image using the same file name
  3. Compress and upload the new image:
    1. Upload your image to tinypng.com to reduce file size
    2. Download the compressed image to your computer
    3. Return to Conference App Builder > Maps > Floor Plans and upload your new image


Remove Transparency by Converting File Type

  1. Maps images can be either .png or .jpg files. PNG files support transparency, but JPGs do not, so converting your map to a JPG file will remove the transparency.
  2. Go to https://cloudconvert.com/
  3. Click Select File > select your map image
  4. Click the "..." dropdown and select JPG
  5. Click the red Convert button
  6. Once the conversion completes, download your file
  7. Compress and upload the new image:
    1. Upload your image to tinypng.com to reduce file size
    2. Download the compressed image to your computer
    3. Return to Conference App Builder > Maps > Floor Plans and upload your new image


Remove Transparency with iPiccy

  1. Go to https://ipiccy.com/
  2. Click Open on the top and upload the map image. A gray white pattern indicates the transparent areas. 
  3. In the left hand Editor, scroll to Erase Background and uncheck the box Transparent Background. By default, it will the background with white.


  4. Click the Apply button
  5. On the top, click Save > My Computer 
  6. Select .png as the file format and use the same exact file name as the image you had uploaded.
  7. Click Save to my computer
  8. Compress and upload the new image:
    1. Upload your image to tinypng.com to reduce file size
    2. Download the compressed image to your computer
    3. Return to Conference App Builder > Maps > Floor Plans and upload your new image
