The alphabetical index is a native operating system feature in iOS and its performance is not in our control. It visually appears once the entire data table has been loaded. A table of a thousand authors loads very fast and the index appears nearly immediately. However, if your project contains 50,000 records, the operating system requires some time to load all this data before it can display the index.
The alphabetical index is only supported on iOS.
