I have uploaded an image but it's not loading or showing in the CMS / in the app?

Native device offline / Data update not received

If you can see the image in the Conference App Builder:

  1. Publish a data update
  2. If you published to Proof, ensure you have the proof version installed on your device (More > About)
  3. Receive the data update - check for the image

Incorrect file extension - PNG and JPG only

The only file extensions that are supported in the apps are .png and .jpg for speaker photos, exhibitor icons, or floor plan files. Sometimes, image files are merely renamed but not correctly re-saved and a file called "image.png" is actually a .gif file format. For example, if you rename a .doc file into .pdf file, an actual PDF file was not created. Images with renamed extensions may display in the Conference App Builder, but only because the browsers are very forgiving, unlike native mobile operating systems.

To test the true file type of an image:

  1. upload the file to https://fotoforensics.com/
  2. verify the file extension
    1. If the extension does not match the actual file type, open the file on your computer in a graphics program and select File > Save as > and choose either .png or .jpg to re-save the file correctly.

Linked file not hosted on secure server

If you are linking to an image, you must use host the file on a secure site (https://) or some operating systems may not display them.

File size too large

Certain devices (particularly Android) struggle to load large files. Ensure to compress ALL graphics using a service like tinypng before uploading to the CMS

On a low performing Android device, the background graphic on the Home Screen may be suppressed and only the selected background color may display.
